Hi Middle School Students,

As promised, your new principal is responding to your questions and concerns. I do appreciate your seriousness and maturity in posting your questions about the new middle school. I am sure you will enjoy your new home and will find it an exciting place to be for the next two years. I hope I’ve answered all your concerns.

Facilities – We will have boys’ and girls’ locker rooms across from the gym area, hall lockers will be installed in each grade level wing, classrooms will accommodate twenty-five students, there will be a folding cafeteria and we will have a recreation area. Each grade level hallway will be painted your grade SELECTED color. Corner wall mounts will display directions to rooms and we will also post a map. You won’t get lost!

Teachers – Many of the teachers will be from your home school. They may teach the same subject or different subjects based on their certification. You will enjoy your NEW TEACHERS and your new courses.

Lunches – We will be unable to choose our lunches but will have input into the type of menu we would like to have.

Uniforms – No, we will not have uniforms.

School colors – Our student government will address this topic in September/October.

School I.D.’s - Yes, we will have school ID’s.

Electronic Devices – Sorry, NO! These items are expensive and if they are lost or stolen, the school cannot be responsible. The safest way to keep them is to keep them at HOME.

Clubs – The list of clubs will be extensive so I will only list a few… drama, girl scouts, math club, science club, intramurals (sports), peer leadership, junior honor society and many more.

Social Activities – Yes, we will have some social activities geared toward celebrating our achievements, and acknowledging our cultural diversity.

Busing/Communications – School bus schedules, class schedules will be sent to your home during the summer. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT ADDRESS. The bus schedule will give you information about the time and pick up site in your community.

Summer Orientation - The district is in the planning stages of having a family activity to welcome all new students to the Middle School.

School Policies – The middle school will maintain a rigid policy regarding attendance, tardiness and homework. The mission of the middle school is to connect course work to the high school, prepare students for the work world.

School Safety – The safety of the school will depend on the pride you take in your school, the dignity you place on being a young adult and the respect and maturity you display with your actions. The concerns about bullying will be addressed very firmly by administration. The fact is… “How do you want the middle school to be perceived?” EACH PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE AND EXPECTED TO exercise respect, pride, dignity, maturity and academic excellence at the Middle School.

We will have other safe guards to protect you such as fire sprinklers, building security, alarm systems and handicap accessibility.

We will operate on a CODE OF CONDUCT for all students and personnel.
